Right From The Start

We are offering ‘Right from the Start’, an 8-week program for new parents, on Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., running September 21- November 9th, 2010.

‘Right From The Start’ is an attachment course for parents of babies under 2.

Parenting can be hard! You want to make sure your new baby is healthy and happy. “Right From The Start” can put you on the right path. This course helps parents connect with their babies. A healthy parent-child relationship promotes infant attachment security, mental development and well-being.

Right From The Start is an 8-session course that uses video clips, problem solving discussions and skill-building exercises.

Parent Child Mother Goose

We are also going to offer a PCMGP (Parent-Child Mother Goose Program), stories and songs for babies 0-12 months with their caregivers on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., from April 7 – May 27, 2010.

The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program is an experience for parents or caregivers and their babies aged 0-12 months. This program focuses on the power and pleasure of using rhymes, songs and stories together. The facilitator teaches songs and rhymes to new parents who can then use those to better relate to their babies, and to have materials on hand to keep the babies entertained, distracted, and positively involved. It also offers them an opportunity to meet other parents or caregivers, be involved in the community, and offer social involvement to their children. It is a pro-literacy program for babies and children as it teaches language and pre-literacy skills.
